Team Gleason and Permobil Foundation Join Forces to
Help More People Living with ALS in 2018

NEW ORLEANS, LA – (May 7, 2018) – Team Gleason and the Permobil Foundation are proud to announce a partnership for 2018 that will give more people with ALS access to expanded functionality on their Permobil wheelchairs. Permobil shares Team Gleason’s passion for improving quality of life for people with ALS and also empowering them with greater independence.

The Permobil Foundation has committed to support Team Gleason through a national partnership that involves equipment and sponsorship donations in 2018. Team Gleason will facilitate the distribution through the group’s equipment program.

Included in the contribution are:
Seat elevators on new chair orders
Attendant controls on new chairs
Anterior tilt (30-degree upgrade) features for new Permobil’s F3 chairs

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous gift from the Permobil Foundation,” said Paul Varisco, Team Gleason’s Executive Director. “We strive every day to find ways to meet the extraordinary needs of the ALS community,” he added. “Most insurance doesn’t cover these important features and we know how much they help people who are in wheelchairs. They are vital to comfort and independence.”

“In March 2017 we launched the Permobil Foundation in an effort to enhance and build more impactful partnerships with our non-profit partners and to better fulfill a life of independence for our customers. Working for Permobil you see the passion that goes into building each of our incredible products and for ALS we take this a step further by fast tracking their order through production to ensure each ALS patient gets the chair they need in a timely manner,” said Ashley Davis, Executive Director of Permobil Foundation.

In addition to providing the wheelchair accessories, the Permobil Foundation will also play an important role with the 8th annual Gleason Gras as an exclusive sponsor of the ALS tent. The ALS tent provides food, drinks and front row access to the event music stage for people with ALS who attend. The funds raised at Gleason Gras benefit Team Gleason’s missions.

Team Gleason is accepting applications from those living with ALS interested in Permobil seat elevators, attendant controls, and anterior tilt upgrades. Please visit to fill out an application and to learn more about the assistive technology program at Team Gleason.
